Tenured Radical's "Ten Commandments of Graduate School"

Claire Potter, the "Tenured Radical," has posted some things that every graduate student needs to think about, whether he or she is new to grad school or a seasoned veteran.  Here are a few of my favorites:

"Don't fly with ballpoint pens in your luggage."  (This was not actually one of the "Ten Commandments," but I thought it was very funny).

"Thou shalt have an excellent professional back-up plan."

"Thou shalt become an excellent colleague."

"Thou shalt join thy professional organization."

"Thous shalt use the word discourse sparingly; likewise neoliberalism, and other theoretical catchphrases designed to obscure that thou has not fully thought through thine ideas."

Thanks, Claire!
