Conference on Faith and History is Underway!

My session on social media will take place in the Smothers Theater
It's another beautiful day in Malibu.  The Seaver College outdoor plaza is buzzing with Christian historians enjoying a nice continental breakfast in the sun.  Jay Green of Covenant College has put together an amazing program for this year's biennial meeting of the Conference on Faith and History.

There is a decent Messiah College contingency here at Pepperdine. Messiah College history alums Brooke Strayer and Amanda Mylin are on the program.  So is Devin Manzullo-Thomas, the director of the Sider Institute.  Jim LaGrand is chairing a very interesting panel on public history.  At some point I hope to get everyone together for a picture.

Later today (2;15pm--West coast time) I will be joining Jonathan Den Hartog, Chris Gehrz, and Paul Putz on a panel entitled "Christian Historians and the Social Media."  I am also looking forward to Colleen McDannell's afternoon plenary address: "Heritage Religion and the Mormons."  Tonight John Wigger will be delivering the CFH presidential address. His talk is entitled "Reaching a Wider Audience."

I also don't want to miss a roundtable on David Bebbington's "Quadrilateral Thesis."  Jonathan Yeager (a Bebbington student), Mark Noll, Darren Dochuk, and Molly Worthen will be assessing Bebbington's now classic Evangelicalism in Modern Britain.

And this is only day 1!  Stay tuned for more updates and follow the Twitter stream at #cfh2014
