Yogi Berra: RIP

It is a sad day for baseball. In case you have not heard, New York baseball icon Yogi Berra has passed away.  As a kid, Yogi was an important part of my sports consciousness for three reasons:

1.  I grew up in the New York metropolitan area.  I am not old enough to have seen him play, but Yogi was always making appearances here and there, especially at golf courses.  I remember him as a pitchman for Yoo Hoo chocolate drink.

2.  I have an Uncle Lou (every Italian kid growing up as an "Uncle Lou") who idolized Yogi.  He had a lot of influence on me as a kid.

3.  My earliest baseball memories center around the 1973 Mets, coached by Berra.  This was a great team.  They beat Cincinnati to win the National League pennant and then lost to Oakland in the World Series.  They got ripped off on this call:
